Our take on Gram (prev. Toncoin)
Toncoin (TON) is the native asset of The Open Network, a layer-1 blockchain originally conceived by the team behind the Telegram messaging app and later carried forward by an independent community of developers. The network is built around a sharded architecture intended to scale horizontally, splitting work across many chains so that throughput can grow as demand rises. Its stated focus is fast, low-cost payments along with support for smart contracts and decentralized applications. Toncoin is used to pay transaction fees, reward validators who secure the proof-of-stake network, and participate in on-chain services. A notable feature is its close association with Telegram, which has explored ways to let users interact with the network directly inside the chat app, potentially exposing it to a very large audience. The project also includes complementary systems for storage, naming, and payments. As with any blockchain, there are considerations to keep in mind. Toncoin is a relatively young network whose long-term decentralization, validator distribution, and adoption are still developing. Heavy reliance on a single messaging platform for distribution is both a strength and a concentration risk. None of this is investment advice; anyone interested should research the technology and its trade-offs independently.
